Concert Set To Air Thanksgiving Night on Charm TV, Comcast Channel 25

For Immediate Release (November 21, 2016) Giving, music and celebration were the guiding themes as the Dream 4 It Foundation celebrated its 9th Anniversary this Summer with a benefit concert and scholarship awards ceremony at the Gordon Center for Performing Arts.  Billed as A Sensational Summer Night, seven young persons were awarded some $15,000.00 in educational scholarships and book stipends and a number of persons were honored for their service to the community at the August event.   The summer concert is set to air on Charm TV, Comcast Channel 25 on Thanksgiving Night.       

Founded in 2008, the Dream 4 It Foundation raises scholarship funds for college freshmen.  The Foundation also honors persons from the community who inspire others to dream.  With this year’s awards, the Foundation has presented an amazing $94,000.00 in scholarships.    

The Foundation’s President, Dr. Anthony Brown, a local minister and accomplished recording artist, began the Foundation in response to the overwhelming reaction he received to a song he had written and recorded entitled, Dream.  He adds, “This song has become more than an inspiring lyric, it has encouraged persons to once again go after their dreams.”     

2016 scholarship recipients included:

  • Julianna Scardina, University of Maryland College Park
  • Nicholas Randolph, George Washington University
  • Alyssa McCants, Spelman College
  • Tamia Green, University of Maryland College Park
  • Lyndsay D. Hamilton, Hampton University                                                      
  • Jarred Jones, Community College of Baltimore County

2016 Honorees included:

  • Jade Nicole Neverdon Merritt, Founder, Mikey’s Miracle Foundation
  • Dante De Tablan, Executive Director and Co-Founder - Ben Franklin Center for Community Schools
  • Catherine Trotter, Director, Speak Life Tour
  • Detective Quinise Green, Baltimore City Police Department   
  • Ernestine Yvonne Jones, WEAA Radio Host, 88.9 FM -
  • Delegate Charles E. Sydnor III, District 44B –

In presenting the scholarship awards, Dr. Brown, thanked a number of local companies and individuals who made financial and service donations to the Foundation.
